According to data from the Romanian Institute of Statistics, both the number of jobs and the number of people unemployed are on the rise. One reason for this is a mismatch between the jobs available and the training job seekers have received. At present we have 47 400 job vacancies and 642 000 people unemployed. Another major reason is the fact that most of the jobs available are low-paid, which does not make them at all attractive to people seeking employment. In a healthy economy there are plentiful jobs and a falling unemployment rate, which is not the situation in Romania. To remedy this we need investment and qualified training to ensure that all job vacancies are taken up by people specialising in the fields concerned and who will perform most effectively.
Does the Commission have sufficient funding at its disposal to support the unemployed in a range of vocational training?
