There are very few agricultural producer organisations in Romania. While 800 000 farmers each own between 1 and 5 ha of farmland, making a total of around 4 million ha, 1% of farmers and 11 000 firms hold around 5 million ha. In other words, around half of all farmland is highly fragmented, leading to low production levels.
At the same time, the report on the fruit and vegetables regime notes that, in countries such as Romania, the organisation rate in relation to producer groups and producer organisations is very low or indeed virtually non-existent.

2. What recommendations would the Commission make to the Member States with a view to increasing the organisation rate for agricultural producers?
