Outbreak of viral nodular dermatitis in cattle

Based on information from representatives of the Romanian Association of Cattle, Sheep and Pig Breeders and Exporters, a new outbreak of viral nodular dermatitis in cattle has been reported in Bulgaria.

So far, over 350 head of cattle with symptoms of the disease have been destroyed in this country neighbouring Romania. The disease can develop alarmingly quickly and spread rapidly. Given Romania’s geographical proximity to Bulgaria, cattle there are also at risk.

What instruments does the Commission have at its disposal to reduce the risk of this disease breaking out among cattle in Romania?
