Romania is bottom of the list in terms of digitisation, according to the Digital Economy and Society Index. This index gives Romania an aggregated score of 33.21%, which puts it at the bottom of the Digital Economy Index.
Very low scores were recorded in the human resources sector, where Romania had the lowest percentage of Internet users (56%) and was last but one for basic skills (28% of the population). Romania also ranks last for digital technology integration. Therefore, a relatively small number of companies exchange information electronically (just 22%), use social media platforms for promotional purposes (8%), issue invoices electronically (8%) and sell products online. Moreover, as far as digital services are concerned, only 6% of Internet users access e-government services.
