The delay of support for crops affected by drought

Farmers whose crops are affected by drought complain about the timing of the allocation of state compensations. As such, they will not receive the compensations in time to use the support for the autumn campaign. Due to the domestic red tape and the multiple stages required for the approval of the budget or of the funds, the farmers will receive the necessary compensations at the end of this year. The main region affected by drought is Moldova, which is one of the country’s most important agricultural areas.

What recommendations can the Commission make to the Romanian authorities for the reduction of red tape, so that the farmers affected by drought may use the funds for the autumn crops?
