Starting with 24 June 2015, Russia decided to extend the embargo on the imports of agri-food products from the EU, with the extension to apply to imports of flowers (including trees and other plants), chocolate and canned fish. In 2014, Russia imported flowers and other plants worth USD 225.4 million and chocolate worth almost USD 100 million. EU exports supported the economies of Member States, but the risks of the embargo that has been extended for almost another year may involve the loss of many jobs and income reductions in several EU countries.

How does the Commission consider that EU citizens could be protected from losing their jobs as a result of the embargo imposed by Russia?
